It's early Sunday morning on the other side of the world...and New Zealand, which is where the end of world Earthquakes were supposed to start at 6pm their time, according to Harold Camping, seems to be still kicking, as far as I can tell.
I have several issues with Camping's worldwide end of the world campaign. First, it's going against God by playing God. Camping's prediction is like him declaring he knows what God knows, and only God knows what God knows...as evidenced by my life. The Bible clearly states that only God knows when the day will come, not even the angels know.
My second issue is that it has created a worldwide excuse for non-believers to point and laugh at Christians, once again. Instead of showing God's goodness and sovereignty. One person can give the entire Christian religion a bad name. We, as Christians shouldn't be proclaiming craziness in the streets, screaming about the end times and condemning people to hell. We should be showing love and kindness to those who need it..and those who don't. We should be setting an example like the one Jesus set before us, so that people won't come to the Lord in fear, but rather in love. And so non-Christians won't think we're all wackjobs.
My third issue..which coincides nicely with my second issue, is that it has created this nationwide excuse to party like it's the end of the world. So, Harold Camping, with his hundred million dollar campaign, just propelled our nation further into sin. Way to go.
